In 2020, the Government of Ontario announced new elementary school math curriculum that included Coding education for Grades 1-8.  With so much of the world going digital and automated, engineering experts in these areas are in high demand. At Bricks 4 Kidz, we’re eager to see the next generation lead the charge into developing tomorrow’s technology. That’s why we’re proud to offer some of the best LEGO® robotics and coding classes in today’s educational field.

Coding takes logic and attention to detail, qualities that are best developed at a young age. By contextualizing learning with fun, familiar toys, LEGO®-based coding programs are exceptional tools for encouraging students to cultivate problem-solving skills and understand consequences using an “if-then” framework.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS

All Bricks 4 Kidz LEGO® Robotics and Coding classes are instructor lead and facilitated, providing support to students as they follow Bricks 4 Kidz developed code guides and presentations, offering step by step instructions.

In each class¹, students will complete a different LEGO® robotic build, and then be provided three additional robotics or coding challenges, further developing their problem-solving skills.

We provide the use of all required materials, including Lenovo Chromebook Duet 2-in-1 tablets containing Scratch and WeDo Education 2.0 software, our proprietary Bricks 4 Kidz project kits, and LEGO® Education WeDo Core Sets.

¹ Our “Introduction to Coding” program is strictly virtual and does not include a LEGO® robotic build.  Similarly, our “Video Game Design” program is completed digitally.  

LEGO® Robotics Programs (Ages 5+)

Bricks 4 Kidz LEGO® Robotics programs break down complex STEM concepts into hands-on lessons for kids of all ages. Students as young as 5 years old can use LEGO® Bricks to build models and bring them to life while learning teamwork and communication skills. Bricks 4 Kidz also offers an advanced level course for kids over the age of 9. Our LEGO® robotics programs improve kids’ ability to apply scientific ideas to real-life projects and create tangible results. It’s also known for being a load of fun, helping kids to connect science to positive experiences!

Current Robotics Offerings:

Jr. Robotics – Walker Bots (6 Weeks) (Ages 5+)       

Mondays:  March 18th – April 22nd  5:30PM – 7:30PM

How would you like to turn your next LEGO® creation into a robot, programmed to do exactly what you tell it to do? The Bricks 4 Kidz® Junior Robotics program offers all the fun of building with LEGO® Bricks, plus the challenge of computer programming! LEGO Education’s WeDo 2.0 is a drag-and-drop, icon-based software that introduces kids to the world of wireless computer programming and robotics. This will equip children with the experiences they need to succeed in a technology-based marketplace. The updated WeDo 2.0 software allows your child to bring our proprietary Bricks 4 Kidz® models to life wirelessly, using Bluetooth communication via the 2.0 Smart Hub. This fun, action-packed program combines practical technology skills with endless fun for kids! 

This program utilizes the proprietary Bricks 4 Kidz Technic Project Kit and Model Plans, and LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 software.

Enrich Learning With a LEGO® Coding Program (Ages 7+)

NOTE:  All Coding programs require an independent and fluent Grade 2 reading level or above.

In a Bricks 4 Kidz LEGO® programming class, students will get a starter course in basic computer operation and file management, then move on to designing models using LEGO® Education’s WeDo elements. Once they’ve built their LEGO® Brick masterpieces, they’ll get to write code and see their models come to life on screen.

Students will watch their robot faithfully follow the program they’ve written, even if it’s not right the first time. As they develop additional skills and learn from their mistakes, the projects will get more complex and keep them coming back for more.

Bricks 4 Kidz LEGO® robotics and coding classes are an awesome way to give students a real-life look at STEM concepts while improving their problem-solving skills. Making learning fun is one of the best ways to make a lesson memorable, and your students will always remember the first time they programmed a robot and watched it follow their code.

Current Coding Program Offerings:  

Video Game Design (Ages 7+)

TUESDAYS – March 19th – April 23rd  5:30PM – 7:30PM

Students will develop a range of coding and problem-solving skills as they create fun video games. Game designers will think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively to create various video games. Each Game Design unit includes a themed mini-model built with LEGO® Bricks that will be the main character of all of the games. Each game progressively teaches more advanced capabilities within the video game design software. Students will be proud and excited to actually play their very own completed video games.
