FAQ

AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS

How long do the programs run and how long are the classes?

After-school classes are held once a week for six to eight weeks. Each class is 60 min long.

What is the structure of a typical class?

Our instructors typically begin with an interactive mini-lesson related to the day’s project, which corresponds to the overall theme of the program (some examples are Space Adventures and Amusement Park Rides). Then the children will build a model (for example, a satellite or a Ferris wheel), learning how the individual pieces operate. They will be able to expand on their models and collaborate with other children. There will be time at the end of the hour for free play and sharing of their creations.

Does my child get to keep what he or she builds?

Unfortunately, no. Children are asked to disassemble their model before the end of class, as we will use the kits again in the following weeks. Participants will have the opportunity to build and keep a mini-figure during the class series as a souvenir.

What age ranges are your classes intended for?

Our after-school classes are designed for children ages 5 to 12, depending on the program. Recommended ages will be included in the class descriptions.

What is the teacher-student ratio in the class?

Our ratio is typically 10 students to one teacher.

How do I enroll my child in a class?

To enroll, click on the “View Classes” tab at the top of the page and follow the instructions for the class you are interested in. Or you can call Melina Stock at 917.570.4914 or email to [email protected]

In-School Field Trips

What grade levels do you work with?

Our Field Trips are designed for kindergarten through eighth grade. We are happy to work with mixed grade levels.

What topics/themes do you offer?

Our field trips are designed to enhance your curriculum, so tell us what you will be working on, and we will find a theme-based project that complements it. Some popular themes include Famous Buildings, Inventions, Transportation, and Space Exploration. All of our projects integrate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) concepts, such as simple machines and laws of motion.

How long does a Field Trip last?

Field trips are 60 to 90 minutes and include one to two lessons, model builds, and a handout. Schools usually ask us to work with multiple classes back-to-back, which is more cost effective. We are happy to arrange a field trip that meets your educational and budget needs.

What are the space and supply requirements for school?

We provide all the necessary materials. You just need to provide a room large enough to accommodate all of the students.

Do students keep what they build?

Unfortunately, no. Students are asked to disassemble their model at the end of the lesson.

What is the cost per student?

Our rates vary depending on the number of students and how many classes we will be working with. Please call Melina Stock at 917.570.4914 for more information.

How far in advance should I book?

Our field trips are extremely popular. We recommend you contact us two months in advance, which also gives us time to work with you on coordinating a project that enriches your curriculum. Please call Melina Stock at 917.570.4914 for more information.

Birthday Parties

What kinds of activities are offered at Bricks’ parties?

We offer a variety of activities depending on the package you select. And we can always customize your package with add-ons.

Deluxe Party Package (90 minutes)

  • Party instructor arrives 10 minutes prior to start time to set up.
  • Party begins with 10 minutes of self-directed free play with our giant tubs of bulk LEGO® bricks, allowing time for any late arriving guests and for our instructor to get to know the children.
  • Instructor facilitates the LEGO®-building activity, games, and challenges (selected based on age, ability level, and space available)
  • Includes 12 guests (birthday child not included)

Premiere Package (90 minutes)

  • Includes an additional 30 minutes of play

Add-ons include additional children, take-home mini-figures, T-shirts, and goody bags.

*Please note: While our birthday parties typically run on a structured schedule, our instructors may alter it depending on the skill level of the children. At times, children may want to spend more time on the building activity and there may not be enough time for the games or challenges. To ensure satisfaction, please discuss your preference with our party host BEFORE the party begins.

What kind of space do you require?

All we need is a room and table large enough for the party guests to build with LEGO® bricks and play games and challenges. Since children like to stand when they build, chairs are not necessary.

Some people like to rent out a venue, such as a community facility or religious space, and we are happy to come there, as well.

What age ranges do Bricks 4 Kidz® parties cater to?

Our programs are designed for children ages 3 to 13+. We recognize that children have different skills depending on their age group, and so we’ve tailored our projects for ages 3-5, 6-9, and 10-13. We look forward to working with you to plan a fun and memorable event for your child and his or her guests. And, yes, girls love our parties too!

Do the children keep what they build?

Unfortunately, no. At the end of the activity, children will be asked to disassemble what they have built. If you would like your guests to leave with a small LEGO®, we offer a mini-figure factory for $4/child. We also offer goody bags at $5/child.

How far in advance should I book?

Our birthday parties are extremely popular! We offer weekend parties on Saturdays and Sundays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. To ensure getting your preferred date and time, we recommend you book early, at least two months in advance. Of course, there could be schedule changes, including last-minute cancellations, so please contact us at 917.570.4914 at any time.
