Why Bricks 4 Kidz?

With all of the enrichment programs out there, why choose Bricks 4 Kidz?

Our goal is simple: to help young people discover and explore the fundamentals of math, science, and technology in a safe, relaxed atmosphere that fosters teamwork and creative self-expression using LEGO® components. Most important, we want children to have fun!

We recognize that there are essential skills that children must achieve at different age levels and all of our programs are uniquely tailored to help children attain them.

AGES 3-5

Preschool children can’t get enough of building with brightly colored DUPLO® bricks. Our classes offer creative themes that reinforce the teaching of basic concepts, such as letters, numbers, shapes, and colors. For example, children have fun practicing numbers and reviewing colors while creating an exciting model of a cat, apple, dinosaur, or umbrella. Little engineers use colorful instruction manuals and learn how to follow directions. The focus is on the development of spatial awareness and gross and fine motor skills.

AGES 6-9

This is the age when a love for LEGO® bricks explodes, and our programs foster that love. Using model kits that include gears and technic bricks combined with motors, children explore the concepts of architecture, engineering, and technology. For example, they build a model satellite that turns or a helicopter with a rotating propeller. Most important, they learn how to follow directions, take turns, and share. It’s responsibility wrapped up in fun.

AGES 10-13

For older kids, we’ve designed programs that continue to develop their basic building skills while broadening the scope of the projects. We introduce more advanced concepts of architecture, engineering, and technology that reflect real-life activities and situations. Children work collaboratively on larger-scale, multi-level designs. For example, they construct an entire amusement park with a number of rides. Or a movie theater complete with seats, a concessions stand, and mini-figures. Most important, they learn how to listen to each other while incorporating their own ideas and work together to achieve a final goal.

DID YOU KNOW?

More than 90 percent of elementary and middle school superintendents across the United States surveyed by the National AfterSchool Association (NAA) said that out-of-school programs can improve in-class academic performance in important disciplines, including reading and math. In a fall 2011 survey, these superintendents agreed that educational programs beyond the traditional school day not only improve study skills and test scores but also increase social interaction skills.
