Summertime is almost upon us!

Kids around the country are gearing up for a fun-filled summer, and many are looking forward to time spent at summer camp.

Summer camp organizations have a huge responsibility. Not only do they need to care for a child’s well-being while they’re in the organization’s care, but they also have to make sure they keep the kids preoccupied.

One of the best ways to ensure kids have fun, stay entertained, and continue to learn even when they’re away from school is to invest in an in-house STEAM field trip provided by Bricks 4 Kidz Atlanta.

STEAM In-House Field Trips: How We Can Add Education + Fun to Summer

When kids get out of school for the summer, one of the last things they’re thinking about is learning. This is something which is done over the nine months they’re in school, but this is summertime – time to have some fun!

For a lot of kids, the idea of attending a summer camp or summer school program to learn sounds boring.

This is where we come in. Our system of learning is based on play.

Our Bricks4Kidz Atlanta programs are based on some of the most important things a child can learn.

  • Science
  • Technology
  • Engineering
  • Art
  • Math

Playing with blocks and LEGOs stimulates a child’s brain. It also teaches them how to work well with others and helps them develop problem-solving skills. Plus, it’s incredibly fun, and one of the best ways to engage a child in the learning process is to do so with a fun project.

Our in-house field trips are a fun, convenient way to bring this type of learning system to summer school and summer camp programs.

Our plans compliment the Georgia Milestone Math and Science curriculum and can pair with certain lesson plans. Plus, we have a variety of lessons and themes kids will love, including:

  • Batman
  • Dinosaurs
  • Angry Birds
  • Space Adventures
  • Ninja Spinning

Why It Is So Important to Keep Kids in a Learning Frame of Mind Year Round

Life is full of opportunities to learn. Even as adults, we learn new things all the time.

Doing so makes life so much richer, more enjoyable, and way more interesting.

We want our children to experience this as well, but there’s another reason why we want to encourage them to keep learning all year long.

When kids take three months off of learning, they can end up falling behind scholastically. Studies have found students can fall behind by up to three months in reading ability, and two months in mathematical abilities. Starting the new school year behind the curve can set a child up for disappointment and discouragement.

However, those who continue to learn over the summer months end up moving ahead by two to three months. That’s right – they can actually move ahead scholastically if they continue participating in learning activities, like daily reading (as little as 30 minutes a day is effective) and playing with LEGOs.

Create a Summer Program Which Caters to Kids’ Wants and Needs

To most kids, the ideal summer is one where they get to do nothing but play in the summer sun for three months.

While we want kids to have fun during the summer, we also want to make sure they continue learning. We don’t want our kids to fall behind.

On top of this, we don’t want to look back on our kids’ summer and see a missed opportunity. Instead, invest in something like Bricks 4 Kidz Atlanta’s in-house field trips for your summer camp. They’re a great way to ensure kids keep learning all year round – all while having a blast!
