Bricks4Kidz® 2024 LEGO® Brick Building Robotic Mechanical Engineering Camps!

We’re grateful to be around for another year of camps hosted in our Redmond neighborhood outdoor maker-bus-space and learning place!

SUMMER CAMPS 2024!

Here’s the schedule for the Summer camps for kids AGES 5-12:

SUMMER 2024 Date – Time HOST: Dilettante Extraordinaire Urban Outdoor Makerspace & LEGO® Building Makerbus – 7349 148th Avenue NE, Redmond WA 98052
WEEK 1 JUNE 24-28  9am – 4pm Bricks4Kidz® LEGO® Brick SUPERHERO Robotic (Motor/Battery) 3D + 2D Engineer Building Adventures!
WEEK 4 JULY 15-19   9am – 4pm Bricks4Kidz® Adventures in LEGO® Brick Machines/Robots + Woodworking!
WEEK 7

AUG 5-9    9am -12pm

Bricks4Kidz LEGO® “Galaxy Far, Far Away” Space Brick Robotic (Motor/Battery) 3D + 2D Explorations

We are integrating indoor-outdoor building activities with integrated outside daily activities to get our learn-play-build on in hopefully some sunshine! Rain or shine, we’ll be conducting science experiments and have integrated play outdoors time while we build indoors with our Technic integrated LEGO® materials plus motors and (rechargeable because we care about the environment!) batteries. We greatly support innovation, creativity and problem solving for our kids in a fun, positive learning environment. Once signed up, parents will receive a welcome email and additional communication and details of everyday build models.

Refunds: Refunds will not be issued for non-attendance at a scheduled class. Refunds will be issued in the following cases:

  • If a registration is canceled by the parent more than 1 month prior to the start of the class, a refund will be issued minus a 15% cost-fee to cover potential camp-seat loss and processing costs.
  • If the child registers for another class, we can just transfer the payment to the new class with no penalty.

Cancellation: Full refunds are given with 2-months notice. Bricks4Kidz® reserves the right to cancel any program due to insufficient enrollment or host space unfortunate circumstance. Upon cancellation, a full refund will be made less classes already completed.

Traditional Camp Changes: Camp capacity is reduced with a 1:8 coachtobuilder ratio to maintain ACA requirements and best practices. Mentor (Main Coach) + Apprentice (Jr. Coach) is our goal for each camp week and with Jr. Coaches available to help we may increase the class load. A waiting list for each week will be created. Bus windows and doors will be wide open and 6 ft+ spaces within the bus plus outdoor open-air pods will be utilized.

Kids will rotate locations by activities so to enjoy all the benefits of the space. CDC guidance will be followed including masks and cleaning protocols. We have sanitizers + hand washing station + hand wipes + air purifier and we even go so far as to infuse the bus with organic essential oils like eucalyptus because why not. Cleaning products are 70%+ alcohol + vinegar/soda + tea tree oil + lemon based versus harsh chemicals. Parents must confirm allergies on registration and waiver forms.

STEAM concepts are infused everywhere in this camp. Woodworking topics are fun when learning more about the different woods like Pine wood in woodworking classes or concepts and acknowledging (smelling + appreciating!) its antibacterial powers while investigating the actual tree in our local outdoor space.

Daily Camp Differences (Projects vary by theme + activity-to-activity + day-to-day). PLAY is incorporated into every project – once a build is completed its play time for the remainder of the time.

Monday: Heavier on introductions to people, place and things + process. LEGO® builders are getting to know the kits and materials and into a few project builds.

Tuesday: Getting into the jam with tools and projects and creations! Project concepts get a little deeper with instruction and adventures take off!

Wednesday: LEGO® creators, likely into motors and batteries at a faster pace knowing tools and materials and potentially harder projects challenging their skills.

Thursday: LEGO® theme coming together with multiple builds presented and created around the concept.

Friday: Funday! Showcasing builds and playing with builds + extra free play to close up all wants for the week.

Pending skills level and thanks to smaller more dedicated 1:1 learning paths, some days may only consist of 1-2 build projects for our Bricks4kidz® builders as concepts may take longer (per student needs) and we don’t want to burn out on activity as we’re learning and expanding our horizons. We balance with play and creative + believe it’s important to let each child follow their hearts interests.

Bricks4Kidz® LEGO® builders take home their action figure and daily photos are available for showcase on Friday for kids and parents who would like access to save weekly photos of fun.

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT Bricks4Kidz® Summer Camps

Host sites can bring Bricks4Kidz® camps and materials to their space as a fresh and fun way for kids ages 5 to 12 to spend their school or holiday break! Guided by our experienced teachers/coaches and built around exciting themes like Minecraft®, Star Wars®, Super Heroes, and Robotics, children will enjoy using LEGO® Bricks to build specially-designed Bricks4Kidz®motorized models, creative brick characters, and crafts, and explore the world of engineering, and architecture. A few examples:

  • Mining and Crafting (Minecraft inspired)

  • Galaxy Far Away (Star Wars inspired)

  • Extreme Ninjas (Ninjago inspired)

  • Super Hero Academy / Bat League

  • Brick City Engineers

  • Remote Control Planes, Trains & Cars

  • Jurassic Brick Land

  • Stop Motion Animation Brickfilm Movie Making

  • Robotics

  • And more!

Using specialized LEGO Technic pieces such as gears, axles, and electric motors, children work in pairs to construct a variety of Bricks4Kidz models, as well as build creations of their own during our free-play periods.
