Summer Camp Policies and Parent Handbook

Absences:

Please call Bricks 4 Kidz at 804-938-3535 thirty minutes before the camp is due to start and leave a message if your child will be absent. Please be specific, stating your child’s full name. If we do not receive a message from you, we will try to verify the absence by phone.

Sign-in/Sign-out Policy

Please walk your child into camp and sign him/her in.  You must pick up your child no later than 10 minutes after the camp has ended each day. A Parent/Guardian, or other authorized adult must sign each child in/out of camp every morning and afternoon. The only people that your child will be released to are those listed on your information form. Note: all persons authorized to pick up campers must be at least 16 years of age. If someone other than a parent will pick up your child, please give us prior written notice. If there is an emergency and no one on your list can pick up your child, the primary parent/guardian must call us at 804-938-3535 to allow another adult to pick up the child or send a signed note of authorization with that person.

Late Pick-up:

Ten minutes after the end of camp, we will call the individuals you have authorized to pick up your child. After ten minutes, there will be a late charge fee of $10 for the first five minutes and $5 for each five minute increments after, payable at the time of pickup. If an emergency arises, please call Bricks 4 Kidz at 804-938-3535 and leave a message that you will be late so we can explain to your child that you are on your way. Please note that repeated late pickups might result in termination from our program.

Age Appropriateness:

Since all camps have 2-3 instructors, we will often divide the seating of students so that the students are grouped by age. In this way, one or more instructors will work with the younger students, while another works with the older ones in the class. The base projects, lessons, and software used in a class are the same for all students. We have model instructions that are based on skill level, so while all students are typically building the same model, the older students’ models may be more challenging than those built by the younger students. As the week progresses, the instructors try to introduce models in accordance with the students’ apparent skill level.  You can call us to get the current mix of students by age in camps in which you are interested.

Staff:

Bricks 4 Kidz instructors are individuals who have a great interest and ability in teaching Bricks 4 Kidz programs to students in an exciting way. Each instructor is trained in teaching specific lessons involving the themes in the programs. In addition, all instructors go through a criminal history background check.

Do Students Take Home Their Projects?

Since we use our Lego® supplies in classes and camps throughout the year, students do not take home projects or pieces.

Please send a “Nut Free” Snack and drink with your child daily.

During the registration process you can either pay by credit card or if you prefer, you may send a check to: Bricks 4 Kidz 12509 Hardings Trace Place, Richmond, VA 23233

Refund Policy:

If you must cancel before 2 weeks of the camp start date, a full refund will be issued less a $30 processing fee.  There are no refunds for cancellations within 2 weeks of the start of camp. Refunds will not be issued for non-attendance of a scheduled class.

Make-Up Classes & Transfer Policy:

Make up classes & transfers will be accommodated as long as there is room in the class.

Cancellations:

Bricks 4 Kidz reserves the right to cancel any program due to insufficient enrollment. Upon cancellation, a full refund will be made.

Class Conduct:

Bricks 4 Kidz reserves the right to release, without refund of program fees, any child whose behavior becomes unmanageable. This action will not be taken without verbal and written warnings. No children will be allowed to intentionally physically harm any other persons or person’s property while class is in session. Bricks 4 Kidz highly discourages students from bringing any personal Lego® bricks such as mini-figures or personal Lego® models to classes.
