Bricks 4 Kidz offers a variety of LEGO Robotics options for boys and girls 6-13 at different points throughout the year. During the summer season we offer week-long camps for different ages and building abilities. And during the school-year we offer weekend and later afternoon classes at our Bricks 4 Kidz Creativity Center, as well as on-site at some schools and other venues.

Classes are typically 6 week session and meet for 90-minute, 2-hour, or 3-hour sessions. Prices vary based on duration and complexity level.

No robotics or programming experience? No problem. Been around the building block a while? That’s no problem either. We build different models every week, and offer different challenges to keep everyone excited and engaged.

About Junior Robotics (ages 7+)

For boys and girls 7+ we offer “Jr. Robotics” — working with motorized contraptions, sensors, and introduction to programming.

What Kinds of LEGO Bricks does this class use?
We use our Bricks 4 Kidz Project Kits as well as other parts from the LEGO Education WeDo & WeDo 2.0 sets. In a nutshell these are Technic beams, gears, axles, pin connectors, motors, battery packs, and things like that.
What is the format of the class?
Each class starts with about 10 minutes of Creative Play where children are able to build from our big tubs of LEGO bricks. Then we have a 10-15 minute teaching lesson on our topic of the day which will focus on an aspect of STEM, and introduce our model of the day and programming concepts. Children will then build the model of the day working with a partner. Some of our instructions are in printed booklets, other times we use the computers. Each model we build will be programable with the computers.
What software do you use?
We use LEGO’s WeDo software which has a drag-and-drop approach, similar to Scratch or Scratch JR. The kids will learn commands such as run motor, stop motor, play sound, display image, wait for X time, start on Key press, wait for motion sensor, and more.
About Advanced Robotics (ages 9+)

For boys & girls 9+ we offer “Advanced Robotics” using the LEGO® MindStorms EV3 complete with servo motors, a variety of sensors that interact with the EV3 computer, lot of technic/robotics gears, axels, special elements & more, and programming directly on the robot as well as via computer.

Some class/camp titles are: Introduction to Robotics, Building Robotic Animals, Sumo Robots.
