Full Day and Half Day Programs

You will see that most of our summer camps are listed as 3 hour, half day programs.. Most weeks, we offer two sessions each day. Should you enroll your child in both the morning and afternoon sessions for any given week, they will be able to stay in the classroom during the half hour between sessions. Our instructors will remain on site to supervise them while they eat their lunch. Please see the “What to bring to camp” paragraph below regarding lunch.

Coupons and Free Camp Certficates

Free Camp Certificates obtained through Fundraiser and COUPONS are ONLY applicable to non-contracted camps. These include Christ Community Lutheran School in Kirkwood, the Economic Development Center (edc), Longview Farm Park in Town & Country, Chesterfield Day School.

Age Appropriateness

We will often divide the seating of students so that the students are grouped by age. In this way, one or more instructors will work with the younger students, while another works with the older ones in the class. The base projects, lessons, and software used in a class are the same for all students. We have technic model instructions that are based on skill level, so while all students are typically building the same model, the older students’ models may be more challenging than those built by the younger students. As the week progresses, the instructors try to introduce models in accordance with the students’ apparent skill level.  You can email us to ask about the mix of students by age enrolled in camps in which you are interested, should you be concerned that your child will be among the youngest or oldest in the group. Also, each camp description has a designated age or grade for which the material is deemed appropriate. If you have any questions, please contact us.

For those camps indicated by a grade level, this means that your child should be entering into the grade level in the Fall.

If your child is 4 years old, please be sure you child has finger strength to build with LEGO Bricks and can follow directions in a classroom setting.

Staff

Bricks 4 Kidz instructors are individuals who have a great interest and ability in teaching Bricks 4 Kidz programs to students in an exciting way. Each instructor is trained in teaching specific lessons involving the themes in the programs. In addition, all instructors go through a criminal history background check. All of our instructors have prior teaching experience.

The student to teacher ratio at camps is no greater than 12:1. Many of our camps are 10:1 or less.

Do Students Take Home Their Projects?

Since we use our LEGO supplies in classes and camps throughout the year, students do not take home projects or pieces. Each camper will be given a mini figure and other small trinkets throughout the week.

You are purchasing a LEGO camp experience, not LEGO products or proprietary plans.

Team Involvement

In our remote control camps, robotics camps, and after school programs, students will be expected to work in teams of 2 or occasionally 3 to build their motorized models. We try and group students according to age, or by preference if they attend with friends or siblings and wish to work together. If you would like your child to be paired with a particular classmate, please indicate this in the special instructions section provided in the online registration form. All students are expected to cooperate and compromise with teammates, when needed.

 What to bring to camp

For all campers, there will be a snack time during each camp session. Please pack a nut-free snack and drink for your child to have for each day they are in camp. There will always be water available for your child during the session. If your child has any special food allergies/restrictions, please be sure to note them in the field provided during registration. We always do our best to accommodate any concerns or medical needs your child may have.

For children attending a full day program including the supervised lunch time, please send a bag lunch and a drink marked with your child’s name each day. Lunches are allowed to have nuts. Please do not send perishable items (such as milk, mayonnaise, etc.), since refrigeration is not available.

Cancellations

Dismissal Policy

Authorized parents/caregivers must sign children out of programs. The only people that your child will be released to are those listed at the time of registration. All persons authorized to pick up students must be at least 16 years of age. If someone other than a parent will pick up your child, please give us prior written notice via the online registration form, email ([email protected]), or via the sign in sheet the morning of the program. Subsequent to registration, you can update your authorization information by logging into your account at us.bricks4kidznow.com. If there is an emergency and no one on your list can pick up your child, the primary parent/guardian must call the Bricks 4 Kidz Director at (314) 610-4862, to allow another adult to pick up the child, or send a signed note of authorization to camp with that person.

Class Conduct

Bricks 4 Kidz reserves the right to release, without refund of program fees, any child whose behavior becomes unmanageable. This action will not be taken without verbal and written warnings. No children will be allowed to intentionally physically harm any other persons or person’s property while class is in session. No children will be allowed to threaten physical harm to any other person. Bricks 4 Kidz wants ALL campers to enjoy and learn from Bricks 4 Kidz camp and will not tolerate one or more children ruining the experience for all of the remaining campers.

Other dismissals not mentioned previously, are the result of a 3 step process: (1) verbal discussion with parent, (2) written warning, (3) suspension from camp. These dismissals are the result of unruly behavior or not following rules or instructions.

Students are expected to follow instructions of Bricks 4 Kidz staff, and to treat other students and staff in a respectful manner.

Bricks 4 Kidz discourages students from bringing any personal LEGO Bricks such as minifigures or personal LEGO models to classes. Bricks 4 Kidz is NOT responsible for damages or loss of any personal property while at a class.

Normal cleaning/disinfection procedures

Bricks are disinfected at the beginning of each season: Summer camps & Afterschool. Bricks are laundered in hot water in a laundry machine.

In addition, periodically throughout the season/event, bricks are sprayed with lysol-type disinfectant spray, depending on the amount of use.

Tables are wiped down before and after each use. Children wash hands before playing with bricks.

No bricks are to ever be placed in any child’s mouth and children are NOT to eat or drink while playing with bricks.
