AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS AND BRICK CLUB

We welcome your student to the next session of Bricks4Kidz after school session or Brick Club. Just a few items to make the experience great and exceptional:

Parent Demonstration

Ever wonder just what do we do with your kid for an hour? Come any time and see. You can play with LEGOS too! We hope to see you there.

More stuff-

  1. Please feel free to send a snack for your student to eat – we will make time for them to eat it. They are very hungry after school.
  2. Kids are tired as well as “jazzed up” that school is out. We will do our best to keep them on task during the hour.
  3. We will have them do “free build’ only after they have completed the model for the day. Some just want to free build, but they have to learn the STEM first and build the model. All our models are age-appropriate.
  4. Keep in mind that we always work in pairs. We want to teach kids to work together and take turns, learn to cooperate and be successful. We will put ages and grades together as much as possible. Sometimes older kids can help younger kids and feel like young leaders in the class.
  5. Keep your personal LEGOS at home – we do not want them to get lost on our huge bin of free build stuff.
  6. Feel free to let the class teacher know about any special needs your student may have. We will work to make sure they have a great experience.
  7. Feel free to let the class teacher know about special occasions, like birthdays, if you want to send a special snack along for the class. Be aware of the school’s dietary rules.
  8. Be on time to get your student. Let us know if you are going to be late or if a different person will be picking them up. See the fine print below about late fees!
  9. Always let us know if there are issues or concerns with the program. We want to hear from you.
  10. Absences – we will take attendance at the beginning of each and every after school class and notify the office if your student is absent. It is up to our student to get to Brick Club after school. We will do our best to help by calling the office if they are not present. Please feel free to let your student’s classroom teacher know they have Brick Club on a specific day. That will help remind them. (Small print – no refund for missed classes).
  11. Bricks4Kidz Staff member – it would be helpful if you wrote down your student’s Brickz4Kidz staff member phone number. You might need it in the future for contacting them during the session.

SIGN-IN/SIGN-OUT POLICY:

CAMPS

Please drop off your child at 9:00 am each day if in the morning session, or 1:00 p.m. if in the afternoon session. While an instructor may be in the classroom before the start of the camp, they use this time to set up and ensure they are ready for the class for the day.  We will have all children enter into the classroom promptly at 9 am or 1pm, or the time the camp starts.

You must arrive to pick up your child no later than 10 minutes after the camp day has ended. A parent/guardian, or other authorized adult must sign each child in/out of camp every morning and afternoon. Your child will only be released to those individuals listed on your information form. Note: all persons authorized to pick up campers must be at least 16 years of age. If someone other than a parent will pick up your child, please give us prior written notice. In the case that an emergency occurs, and the individuals listed cannot pick-up the child, a parent/guardian must call (734)748-6039) or send a signed note of authorization) to allow another adult to retrieve the child.

Please check your registration information on-line and complete that section about “pick-up” of your students – this is where you list people to pick up your student or fill-out the form below.

CAMP FAQS (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)

What is the maximum camp enrollment?

Twenty campers is the maximum number of children that can enroll in any one of our camps.

What should my child bring to camp?

Snack: In our ½ day camps, we will take a brief break to have a snack. Because of food allergies, please do not send anything containing nuts!

Is there anything that my child should not bring to camp?

Lego® Bricks from home, electronic devices, including but not limited to, IPODS/MP3 Players, CD players, video games, tablets, laptops, any item(s) for sale or distribution, including but not limited to trading cards, and etc. are not permitted at camp.

These items will be turned in to a teacher and returned to the parent/guardian at the end of the day. Please understand that bringing items from home can result in the item being lost or misplaced. Bricks 4 Kidz is not responsible for any personal possessions that are lost, stolen, or misplaced.

Kids and Cell Phones

Though we understand the reasoning for mobile devices as a safety precaution, Bricks 4 Kidz highly discourages campers from bringing cell phones. If campers do bring cellular phones with the approval of their parent/guardian, they are to remain off and put away while camp is in session. Bricks 4 Kidz is NOT responsible for damages or loss of any personal property while at camp. Campers will be allowed to store a backpack or bag if needed while at camp.

Who are the instructors?

Instructors are individuals who have a great interest and ability in teaching STEM to students in an exciting way; all of our camp instructors have also taught classes for Bricks 4 Kidz, and assisted us to develop curriculum during the school year. Each instructor is qualified to teach enrichment classes/camps, and undergoes training sessions that focus on classroom supervision and youth management, as well as each software and technology associated with specific course products. In addition, all instructors go through a criminal history and sexual predator background check, and are fingerprinted within the counties they work.

Do students take home their projects after camp?

Since we use our LEGO® supplies in classes and camps throughout the year, students do not take home projects or pieces. There are some occasions that students will take home non-LEGO® related projects that they create in our camps.

What is the typical age range – will my child be too young or old compared to the rest of the class?

We will divide the students into groups based on their age and skill level. In a full camp, comprised of both beginner and intermediate campers, multiple instructors will be available to work with each group. The base projects, lessons and software used in a class or camp are the same for all students; however, older students will work on intermediate or advanced model builds that are more intricate, detailed, and enhanced with extras.

Will there be adult supervision throughout the day?

Yes! Our staff supervises the students throughout the day, both in class, as well as during the snack breaks.

Are refunds provided?

Because spots fill up quickly, we will NOT grant any refunds requested within 1 week of the start of camp. Refunds are ONLY provided if requested two weeks prior to the camp start date; in the case that a child is registered and a parent/guardian inquiries about a refund two weeks prior to the camp start date, Bricks 4 Kidz will honor a reimbursement of camp tuition, with a 10% process fee. Refunds will NOT be offered for attending partial weeks, sickness, or closures due to inclement weather.
