Q.  What are Bricks 4 Kidz® After School Classes?

A.  BRICKS 4 KIDZ ® offers project-based programs designed to teach principles and methods of engineering and architecture, as well as concepts across a variety of subject areas including math, science and history using LEGO® bricks. The activities are designed to trigger young children’s lively imaginations and problem solving and enable children to learn not only by listening and observing, but also by using their fine motor skills and spatial intelligence. We make learning fun!

Q. How long is a Bricks 4 Kidz® class?

A. A BRICKS 4 KIDZ ® After School class lasts for one hour. Each class begins with 10 minutes of curriculum, 30- 40 minutes of model building and 10-20 minutes of Free Play where innovation is encouraged and their creativity flows. The students are having so much fun, they forget they are learning.

Q. How do I sign my child up for a Bricks 4 Kidz class?

A. Most classes are listed here on our Website and by clicking on the “sign up now” tab you can find your location and class and follow our link to either internal or external registration.  Watch for BRICKS 4 KIDZ ® flyers and information to come home with your student.  For registration questions you can always contact us at  (+965) 222 400 25  Ext 232 (+965) 944 557 37  Hotline or by email at [email protected]

Q. Do children keep the models they build?

A. For a variety of reasons, this is not possible. Class costs would become prohibitive as our gear kits cost around 70 K.D. (Each kit creates just 2 models)  One of our core goals is to teach children basic building skills and simple engineering principles such at gear ratios so that they can use these principles at home to make their own unique creations. The model building is a lot of fun and an essential skill but it is in the creative process where innovation begins that the real learning takes place.

Q. Are there any fees other than class enrollment costs?

A. No. The only other costs associated with a BRICKS 4 KIDZ ® class. All prices given for classes and events are all-inclusive, and there are never extra fees.

Q. What ages can sign up for a BRICKS 4 KIDZ ® class?

A. Our classes are offered for children 4 to 13 years old . Most Kindergarten students will require extra help but they learn quickly and do well in our classes. Most 7th graders work through the models quickly but still enjoy the building template and take advantage of the creative free play time that each class provides. Although team building is a part of our model, when possible, if an older student requests to build alone we do our best to accommodate. All the kids enjoy themselves no matter what the age or building aptitude.

Q. How many times will BRICKS 4 KIDZ® come to my school each week?

A. BRICKS 4 KIDZ® classes are once per week but we may offer several classes at one location.

Q. Does BRICKS 4 KIDZ® require their teachers to undergo background checks?

A. Every teacher must meet all local school district guidelines in order to teach BRICKS 4 KIDZ®   classes. Our teachers are all required to submit to a criminal background check.

Q. Will my child learn anything, or am I paying for them to simply play with LEGO® bricks?

A. At BRICKS 4 KIDZ® we reinforce hands-on applications of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts. Each model is supported with curriculum that may focus on the science or history behind the subject of the model. Our curriculum is written by a team of educators and our model plans are created by an architect and a team of engineers. Students also learn teamwork and problem-solving skills by working through frustrations to complete their models. Don’t worry, they are learning!

Q. BRICKS 4 KIDZ® does not currently offer classes at my child’s school. How can he/she attend classes?

A.  If your child’s school is not currently offering BRICKS 4 KIDZ® classes, contact your school’s enrichment coordinator or administrator or your school’s PTA or PTO and encourage them to become a Host school. Also, many of our programs allow open enrollment. Contact us for a list of schools or community centers near you.

Q. Do you offer any free classes?

A. We are happy to offer free demonstration classes to schools and groups that are considering hosting our program.  Call us for more information.

Q. What groups can participate/host a BRICKS 4 KIDZ® class or event?

A. Our program is very flexible! Any group that wants to host, can!  We can schedule classes for homeschool co-ops, elementary schools, pre-schools, church events, Boy or Girl Scouts, parent/child groups, camp within a camp and more. If you have a group that wants to offer a BRICKS 4 KIDZ® class or event, we can do it.

Q. Does BRICKS 4 KIDZ® offer any discounts?

A. At times, we do offer specials on various services, such as classes, birthday parties and camps. We also offer scholarships for students who have financial need. It is our goal that all kids are able to attend our classes.

Q. My child missed a class because he/she was sick, we went out of town, etc. Do I have to pay for that class?

A. In most instances, the policy regarding missing a class is dictated by the host school.  Generally, we do not refund parents for classes missed but in certain instances BRICKS 4 KIDZ® will prorate a class fee for a future session or help to coordinate a makeup class.
