Tracy Morris I am the Managing Director/Owner of Bricks 4 Kidz – Lexington and a graduate of Morehead State University with a Bachelor of Science in Math and Computer programming. I have worked as a computer programmer, software consultant and in software sales and marketing for the past fifteen years. In 2013, I decided to become a small business owner and start Bricks 4 Kidz in the Lexington area. With three kids of my own, it was a natural fit for my family needs, giving back to the community, and a way to offer STEM opportunities for children ages 3-13 using LEGO® Bricks in a fun, hands-on learning environment. I love working with children, teaching, and look forward to continuing to grow Bricks 4 Kidz for families in our community!
Drew Brammell I am a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Middle Grade Education. I enjoy working with children and adults and have been an avid LEGO® fan for many years. Bricks 4 Kidz is a good fit for me with the my experience as a substitute teacher in various subjects and ages throughout the area. I hope to continue as an instructor as I pursue a full-time teaching position. Drew was our very first teacher we hired and are thrilled to have him on staff!
Morgan Dow I am currently working on my M.S. in STEM Education at the University of Kentucky, and I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Philosophy from the University of Rochester. I teach adult education classes here in Lexington, and I’m very excited to be a part of the team at Bricks 4 Kidz! Outside of teaching, my interests include math, knitting, sewing, and reading. Morgan’s math and STEM background helps her connect with the children and the goals of our program to keep kids involved in STEM!
Lizzy Hagenmaier – I am a graduate of University of Kentucky with a Bachelors degree in Biology. I hope to continue and pursue my career in medicine. I am very excited to join the Bricks 4 Kidz team! I enjoy being able to educate and spread the love of science to others, especially children with developing minds and interests. I cannot wait to build and learn with the kids, as well as have them teach me a thing or two also. I have had experience tutoring various age ranges, as well as student teaching during my undergraduate education. My other interests include running, cooking, the outdoors, and volunteering especially through Big Brothers Big Sisters. We love Lizzy’s energy and commitment to helping kids grow and learn!
Sajan Kalyan I am a pre-med biology major at the University of Kentucky. LEGO® bricks are something from my childhood that I still enjoy because you can practically make anything with a little imagination. I like working at Bricks 4 Kidz because, at the end of the day, the kids teach me just as much as I teach them! Sajan connects very well with the students and is a great builder.
Mollye Malone I am a sophomore at The University Of Kentucky, currently studying Environmental Engineering. Aside from school and Bricks 4 Kidz, I’m a student ambassador for Women-In-STEM, and a team leader for NASA Kentucky’s Solar Eclipse 2017 project. I grew up in Yellow Springs, Ohio spending summers volunteering at my local preschool and daycare center. I absolutely love talking to children and listening to them problem solve and discover new things. Some of my favorite things and hobbies include astronomy, watching cartoons, solving Rubix Cubes, and listening to Podcasts. Mollye’s leadership and problem-solving skills shine through when working with Bricks 4 Kidz staff and students. We are fortunate to have her on our team.
Sydney Shoemaker I am from Ashland, KY and a sophomore at the University of Kentucky pursuing a double major in Environmental & Sustainability Studies and Spanish. I am an alumni of both the Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program and the University of Kentucky Professional Education Preparation Program. I have experience working with young children as both a summer day camp counselor and an after-school 21st Century instructor/tutor through my hometown’s school district and I am so grateful that Brick 4 Kidz allows me to combine my love of working with children with my passion for the sciences! We are excited to have Sydney on staff to pursue her love of working with children!
Nora Veblen I am currently working on my Master’s in Music Therapy at the University of Kentucky. I previously earned my Bachelors in Music Education and an Equivalency Bachelors in Music Therapy from the University of Kentucky as well. Throughout my time in Lexington I have had the pleasure of working with kids and adults, with and without disabilities, as a music teacher, substitute teacher, camp counselor, and as a music therapist. I am excited for the opportunity to work with kids in a new setting and to learn more about STEM concepts alongside them. Nora brings her creativity and passion for helping others and the kids are going to love her.
Beth Young I recently graduated from UK with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and two minors: Music Performance and Anthropology. I have always had a passion for teaching with experience ranging from private music lessons and elementary school garden/sustainability projects to college-level chemistry and now Bricks 4 Kidz. I’m very excited to be joining the team this summer and I can’t wait to revive my childhood love of LEGO® Bricks. We are excited for Beth to join us for the summer and continue this fall as her schedule allows!
