ABOUT Bricks 4 Kidz ®
DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM
- Our programs offer hands-on learning classes where students will design and build machines, catapults, pyramids, buildings and other constructions using LEGO ® bricks. While exploring engineering, architecture and physics, students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Engineering and Architectural concepts are taught while assembling buildings, bridges and other structures.
- Once the project is completed, children use the rest of their time to expand their gadgets and collaborate with one another
CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTIONAL CONTENT
- Students will work in pairs; all programs are delivered in a classroom setting.
- Instruction is delivered by fully trained and screened teachers using pre-designed instruction materials whose objectives support Ontario elementary mathematics and science curriculum expectations.
- Instructional content includes concepts of friction, gravity and torque, scale, gears, axles and beams.
- The material covered each session will vary depending on students’ ages, experience, and skill level.
- All materials will be provided.
GOALS
- For children to play and socialize with friends while building in a non-competitive setting.
- To provide an opportunity for creative expression and foster an appreciation of how things work.
- To provide learning fundamentals of Engineering and Architecture and to help students understand that Engineering and Architecture are viable career choices.
BENEFITS
- They already know how to build with LEGO® bricks, but with a little coaching children can learn the fundamental concepts of Engineering and Architecture, while further developing their understanding of the core mathematic and science curriculums they are taught at school.
- Children will develop problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork and communication skills, preparing them for the world that awaits them.
