Robot competition setupThis year, Bricks 4 Kidz was privileged to participate in the 2017 FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) Robotics Competition for Newfoundland & Labrador on Saturday, November 25, 2017.   It was great to see so many familiar faces at from Bricks 4 Kidz classes and camps.

This year’s exciting  theme was “Hydro Dynamics”.   People use water every day, but they don’t think much about how and why they use water. Whether it’s directly (drinking or washing) or indirectly (manufacturing the products they use or producing food or energy), humans have a lot of different water needs.

FLL Core Values ChallengeThis year’s competition consisted of 17 teams from across Newfoundland and Labrador.  Bricks 4 Kidz provided materials for the Core Values challenge and had judges participate in the competitions. The Core Values challenge had teams work together to build the tallest tower and transport it from one table to another.  It was great to see such innovative approaches to the challenge and the team spirit.

Robots competing on Robot MatThe winners of this year’s competition were:

  1. Mount Pearl Intermediate
  2. Immaculate Heart of Mary (Grade 6)
  3. Lakecrest Academy
