South Charlotte business,Sew Fun Parties, to be franchised

Charlotte Observer

Sew Fun Parties, a South Charlotte business that hosts sewing parties, classes and special events, is on the cusp of going national and international, after being bought by the St. Augustine, Fla.-based Creative Learning Corporation.

Wendy Orenstein-Berglass, who founded the company in 2008, says response to the news has been swift, with entrepreneurs from areas including Florida, Virginia, South Carolina, Louisiana and Singapore applying for franchises.

Orenstein-Berglass says she’s been working with CLC on an extensive project manual for franchisees and will host all owners of new Sew Fun franchises for a week in Charlotte, where she will teach them the ins and outs of the business.

Creative Learning Corporation is the company that franchised Bricks 4 Kidz®, an educational program that teaches kids about architecture and engineering through LEGOS®. There are more than 100 Bricks 4 Kidz® locations in the U.S. and abroad.

Orenstein-Berglass first opened Sew Fun in a small location in downtown Matthews, but as the business grew she expanded to a 1,100 square-foot location in The Fountains shopping center off Ardrey Kell Road in South Charlotte.

The center hosts birthday parties, sewing classes, camps and Girl Scouts and YMCA Y Guides activities.
