Q.  What are Bricks 4 Kidz® Classes?

A. Bricks 4 Kidz® offers creative and challenging classes using LEGO®  bricks, motors and remote controls.  We provide a unique learning environment where qualified teachers inspire imagination  and invention.  We make learning fun.

 

Q. How long is a Bricks 4 Kidz® class?

A. Bricks 4 Kidz® after-school classes last for one hour.  Preschool classes are 45 minutes.

 

Q. How do I sign my child up for a Bricks 4 Kidz® class?

A. Parents can easily register their child online or at the facility where our classes are held (varies by location/event).

 

Q. Will my child learn anything, or am I paying for them to sit in a room and play with LEGO® bricks?

A. Children learn constantly in Bricks 4 Kidz® classes, and have fun doing it. The classes are hands-on applications of math, science, engineering, and technology concepts. They will also learn teamwork through partnering with classmates to build models, and will exponentially increase their problem-solving skills by working through models, which become increasingly complex as their skill levels increase.

Additionally, pre-schoolers work with the alphabet and learn more about animals, famous places, and other interesting and educational subjects.

 

 

Q. Do children keep the models they build?

A. For a variety of reasons, this is not possible. Class costs would become prohibitive; also, one major educational goal is to teach children skills they can use to make their own unique creations that will increase in difficulty and complexity over time. If children only have multitudes of models and plans to follow that someone else created for them, they will be less likely to use their knowledge of engineering and how things work to make their own inventions.

 

Q. Do children get to keep anything, or take anything home?

A. Yes. At the beginning of every 4 week session, each child will custom design their own LEGO® minifigure. At the end of every 4 week session, they will keep the minifigure. In addition, t-shirts are available for purchase at a very low cost (every child needs their own Bricks 4 Kidz® t-shirt!). Pictures will be available, and any stop-motion animation camps and classes will include a DVD copy for each child of their movie.

 

Q. What ages can sign up for a Bricks 4 Kidz® class?

A. Bricks4Kidz® offers classes for pre-schoolers (ages 3-5), and elementary age children (ages 6-12).

 

Q. My child is 5 years old. Can he/she attend an elementary school class?

A. Exceptions can be made for younger children that are more advanced with LEGOS®. Bricks 4 Kidz® teachers will make final determinations on whether a child meets an exception.

 

Q. How many times per week will Bricks 4 Kidz® provide a class to my child?

A. Bricks4Kidz® classes are typically once per week, but we base it on the number of children we serve.  Any classes that are cancelled by Bricks4Kidz® will be made up at no additional charge to parents.

 

Q. Does Bricks 4 Kidz® require their teachers to undergo background checks?

A. Definitely. Every teacher must meet state and county guidelines in order to teach Bricks4Kidz® classes. A local background check is required, and Bricks4 Kidz® performs national background and record checks.

 

 

Q. Do you have a store where I can buy LEGO® bricks, or where my child can come build and play?

A. We do not currently have a store in York county, but we are partnering with other locally owned and operated businesses in our area to provide space for classes and events that cannot be conducted at your location.  

 

Q. What days do you hold classes?

A. Any day we can!  Click on enroll in a class to view our schedule.  If we are not in your child’s school, email bchatham@bricks4kidz.com for information on how to help bring Bricks 4 Kidz classes to your child’s school.

 

Q. Bricks 4 Kidz® does not currently offer classes at my child’s school. How can he/she attend classes?

A.  If your child’s school is not currently offering Bricks4 Kidz® classes, contact your school administrator. We would be happy to do all we can to accommodate after-school classes in any school.  If you help us get an appointment at your child’s school and it results in after-school classes, we will give your child 4 FREE classes!!!

Q. How do I set up a FREE Bricks 4 Kidz® trial class at my child’s school/daycare or other facility?

A. This would easily be done in collaboration with the school administration. Usually, when a parent expresses a desire for the school to offer something beneficial to its students/members, it is very easy to schedule a free trial class.

 

Q. How can I pay for a Bricks 4 Kidz® class?

A. You can pay in person or through our secure, online payment system (varies by facility/event).

 

Q. What groups can participate in a Bricks 4 Kidz® class or event?

A. Any group that wants to hold one. We are working with homeschool co-ops, Boys & Girls clubs, elementary schools, pre-schools, churches, special-needs classes, father-son and father-daughter groups, and more.  If you have a group that wants to offer a Bricks 4 Kidz® class or event, we can do it.

 

Q. Does Bricks 4 Kidz® offer any discounts?

A. At times, we will offer specials on various services, such as classes, birthday parties and camps.  Contact us for more information about discounts offered.

 

Q. Are there any fees other than class enrollment costs?

A. No. The only other costs associated with a Bricks 4 Kidz® class or event would be for optional items, such as extra t-shirt(s) or cake(s).  All prices given for classes and events are all-inclusive, and there are never extra fees.  You have the option of ‘tipping’ your instructor for a service ‘Above and Beyond’ (Birthday Parties for example), but it is not expected at all and is totally your choice.

 

Q. My child missed a class because he/she was sick, we went out of town, etc. Do I have to pay for that class?

A. Parents will need to contact us about any makeup classes for absences. We will not always be able to accommodate a request to lower a session fee based on makeup classes.  In instances where this is allowed, Bricks 4 Kidz® cannot refund a class fee for a session that has already been paid in full; if a makeup class is allowed, a class fee will be waived in the next 4 week session to accommodate for the makeup class.

 

Q. What other special events and services does Bricks 4 Kidz® offer?

A. Services are listed on the website. However, Bricks 4 Kidz® will host special events/classes on occasions, such as a “Kidz Night Out”, where children can enjoy a night of Bricks 4 Kidz® fun while parents enjoy their own time alone. “Mommy and Me” and “Daddy and Me” classes as well as “Family Fub Nights” will be coming soon also.
