Summer Camp Policies and Parent Handbook

Bricks 4 Kidz of West Central Florida

Policies and Parent Handbook

Full Day:

  • You will see that all of our summer camps are listed as full day programs.  Please see the “What to bring to camp” paragraph below regarding lunch and snacks.  Before and after care is available, please call to make arrangements.

Age Appropriateness:

  • Since all camps have 2-3 instructors, we will often divide the seating of students so that the students are grouped by age. In this way, one or more instructors will work with the younger students, while another works with the older ones in the class. The base projects, lessons, and software used in a class are the same for all students. We have model instructions that are based on skill level, so while all students are typically building the same model, the older student’s models will be more challenging than those built by the younger students. As the week progresses, the instructors try to introduce models in accordance with the student’s apparent skill level.

Staff:

  • Bricks 4 Kidz instructors are individuals who have a great interest and ability in teaching Bricks 4 Kidz programs to students in an exciting way. Each instructor is trained in teaching specific lessons involving the themes in the programs. In addition, all instructors go through a criminal history background check. The student to teacher ratio at camps is no greater than 12:1. Many of our camps are 10:1 or less.

Do Students Take Home Their Projects?

  • Since we use our LEGO® supplies in classes and camps throughout the year, students do not take home projects or pieces.

Team Involvement:

  • In our remote control camps, robotics camps, stop motion animation, comic creator, and after school programs, students will be expected to work in teams of 2 or occasionally 3 to build their motorized models.  All students are expected to cooperate and compromise with teammates, when needed.

 What to bring to camp:

  • For all campers, please send 2 snacks, a nut-free bag lunch(if possible), and a water bottle marked with your child’s name each day.  If your child has any special food allergies/restrictions, please make sure to note them in the space provided on the registration form. We are happy to do our best to accommodate any concerns or medical needs your child may have.

What NOT to bring to camp:

  • Please refrain from sending any electronic devices.  I understand that you want to have contact with your builder while they are in camp however, I assure you they are doing just fine and having lots of fun.  If you need to check on your builder, please feel free to contact me or your counselor at any time.  Phone numbers of the head counselors will be given to all parents at the beginning of camp.  If for any reason something does happen, you will be contacted immediately.
  • Please leave all toys/trading cards/action figures etc. at home.  We will have plenty for your builder to do and I would be devastated if something happened to your builder’s favorite item.

Payment:

  • At time of enrollment, please use the payment option provided  Please contact the Bricks 4 Kidz of West Central Florida, Tina Burgess, at 407-603-KIDZ (5439) if you have any questions.  The enrollment fee will need to be paid through our online payment system upon enrollment.

Refund Policy:

  • If you must cancel within 3 weeks of the camp start date, a full refund (minus the enrollment fee of $25) will be issued.  If cancellations occur within 2 weeks of camp start date, a 50% refund will be issued.  There are no refunds for cancellations within 1 week of the start of camp. Refunds will not be issued for non-attendance of a scheduled class.

Make-Up Classes:

  • Due to the scheduling of our camps, make-up classes are not possible.

Cancellations:

  • Bricks 4 Kidz reserves the right to cancel any program due to insufficient enrollment. Upon cancellation, a full refund will be made less classes already completed.

Dismissal Policy:

  • Authorized parents/caregivers must sign children out of programs. The only people that your child will be released to are those listed on your registration form. All persons authorized to pick up students must be at least 16 years of age. If someone other than a parent will pick up your child, please give us prior written notice. If there is an emergency and no one on your list can pick up your child, the primary parent/guardian must call the Bricks 4 Kidz Director to allow another adult to pick up the child or send a signed note of authorization with that person.

Class Conduct:

  • Bricks 4 Kidz reserves the right to release, without refund of program fees, any child whose behavior becomes unmanageable. This action will not be taken without verbal and written warnings. No children will be allowed to intentionally physically harm any other persons or person’s property while class is in session. Bricks 4 Kidz highly discourages students from bringing any personal LEGO® bricks such as minifigures or personal LEGO® models to classes. Bricks 4 Kidz is NOT responsible for damages or loss of any personal property while at a class.
