AFTER SCHOOL CLASSES

INVENTIONS – 1 HOUR/WEEK, AGES 5+ So many things we use each day are someone’s invention. Introduce your child to the world of ideas, creativity, inventions and patents. We will construct different familiar objects from LEGO® each week such as a hand mixer, windshield wipers and a conveyor belt. Each model is motorized for maximum movement and fascination. Start creating!

 

TRANSPORTATION – 1 HOUR/WEEK, AGES 5+ Lots of building fun ahead with motorized models of a car, helicopter, airplane, sailboat and more. These models rock, roll and spin! Your child will follow our step-by-step model plans to create their vehicle, then customize it to their own specifications and take their mini-figure for a ride.

SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS

SPACE ADVENTURE, AGES 5-12 - Are you a budding astronaut?  An adventurer who loves space exploration?  Then you’ll love our Space theme projects.  Campers will learn about real-life space exploration and build a new model related to the NASA space program.  Models include a satellite, the Discovery Shuttle, a centrifuge which astronauts use to prepare for the physical sensations of launch, a treadmill which astronauts use to stay fit in space, and a “space robot”.  During this unit, campers will explore the science behind launching things into orbit, will hear about the most-distant man-made object in the universe, and discuss what it is like to be an astronaut in space.  Let Bricks 4 Kidz launch your imagination to outer-space and beyond!  Outdoor play during snack time (weather permitting).

AMUSEMENT PARK, AGES 5-12 – Get your ticket to ride at Bricks 4 Kidz® very own LEGO® Amusement Park! Campers will build a new ride each day, learning how to make things spin, roll, turn and rock. Then they will take what they have learned to design their own thrills and challenges. Motorized models maximize the action and the fun. Their day will also include plenty of carnival-themed games, challenges, and time for free-play with our giant tub of LEGO® creative play.  Outdoor play during snack time (weather permitting).

 

EXTREME EXPEDITION CAMP, AGES 5-12 – Do you have what it takes? Come Find Out! Form a team to complete our exciting LEGO version of the amazing race. Search the globe for bricks and other resources needed to construct a base in the Himalayan Mountains, encounter Worst Case Scenario survival challenges, face obstacles and forces of nature as you construct transportation equipment to bring your team together.  Activities also include group builds and opportunity for creative building with our giant tubs of LEGO creative play.  Outdoor play during snack time (weather permitting).

ANIMAL “GROSSOLOGY” CAMP, AGES 5-12 – If you’re fascinated by the weird but true, wild and wacky, gross and yucky, then this is the camp for you! Spend the week discovering the zany biology of our animal friends. Each day we’ll explore fascinating facts about the animal kingdom, focusing on a “creature of the day.” Build a different animal model each day and fill your very own “Animal Grossology” booklet with crazy and cool facts you learn, complete with a picture of each model, to become a certified Bricks 4 Kidz Grossologist. Activities also include group builds and opportunity for creative building with our giant tubs of LEGO creative play.  Outdoor play during snack time (weather permitting).

BRICKS OLYMPICS CAMP, AGES 5-12 – Calling all sports fans…on your mark, get set, build! Celebrate the 2012 Summer Olympics with cool models of sports from cycling to soccer, basketball to gymnastics. Take a break from the heat and compete indoors to set your own Brick Olympic records with our exciting sports-themed challenges! Activities also include group builds and opportunity for creative building with our giant tubs of LEGO creative play.  Outdoor play during snack time (weather permitting)

Each week campers  learn about the history, development and modern day applications of everyday items. Using motorized technic LEGO and our proprietary step-by-step build plans, they will construct different familiar objects such as a hand mixer, windshield wipers and a conveyor belt that really work. Participants will work with gears, levers, pulley and axles to develop an understanding of these fundamentals and which ones to use when designing their own inventions. Start creating!  Outdoor play during snack time (weather permitting).

TRANSPORTATION, AGES 5-12 -Learning and fun get a “green light” in this hands on motorized technic LEGO camp. Participants learn about the origins and modern day developments of a different form of transportation each week as we guide them through our engaging lessons and proprietary step-by-step build plans. Builds include Car, Helicopter, Sailboat and more!  Outdoor play during snack time (weather permitting)!

 

CONSTRUCTION, AGES 5-12 -This camp offers increased fun and variety as we will construct with both traditional LEGO® bricks AND motorized technic LEGO® bricks.  This unit explores the architectural and engineering principals of construction and focuses on building operable machinery and tools used to get the job done!  Outdoor play during snack time (weather permitting).

JR. ROBOTICS / REMOTE CONTROL, AGES 6-12 – Take your child’s LEGO experience to the next level with this engaging class that offers all the fun and learning of our popular technic building classes, PLUS the challenge of computer programming! Using LEGO based software (designed specifically for elementary ages), sensors and remote controls, your child will further customize their weekly builds by adding sound and motion. An excellent introduction into the world of computer programming and robotics that will ignite their imagination with possibilities in today’s technological world.  Outdoor play during snack time (weather permitting).

MINDSTORMS ROBOTICS, AGES 9-13 -The hottest selling LEGO® brand, Mindstorms combines classic LEGO® building with the world of robotics, using motors, sensors and software.  Campers will learn how to design and program their own LEGO® robot that can perform all kinds of tasks! Class series begin by teaching overview of programing through a series of function based builds. With this new skill set, participants are then encouraged to work as a team and think critically to apply these learned concepts to open ended “challenges”. Always popular, these classes are a fun and challenging next step into to the world of robotics for the advanced Lego enthusiast!  Outdoor play during snack time (weather permitting).

STOP MOTION MOVIE MAKING, AGES 7-12 – Lights, camera, LEGO action! This unique class allows your child to use the medium of bricks to tell THEIR story, complete with music, special effects and all their favorite LEGO mini-figures! Participants’ creativity will be encouraged as they plan, script, stage, shoot and produce their own mini-movie using Stop Motion Animation. Working as a team, students will use LEGO components to build sets and props, then shoot their movie using a digital camera. Teams will learn movie-making software to add special effects, titles, credits and more. Your child will be able to impress friends and family with a screening on the last day and of course a digital copy of the movie to take home.  Outdoor play during snack time (weather permitting).
